    1. The two studies are testing the issue of whether or not the five second rule is valid. They eventually broadened their research to compare results of potential contributing factors to provide accurate information on results. 2. The two studies are similar on not only the issue discussed but in the results found. Both studies shown revealed that when food comes in contact with bacteria the transfer is immediate. Both studies had also revealed that the transfer is much larger when food is dropped on tile, wood, and laminate in opposition to carpet and that moist foods are most efficient at gathering bacteria. However the two studies conclusions were also said to be drastically different. Professor Dawson concluded that whatever the time contact on any surface food is on has the potential to contain enough bacteria to make people sick. He recommended to toss anything out that touches the floor. Professor Johnson believes that is is unlikely to pick up anything nasty if you are in an area that is known to be hygienic. He also recommended to toss food that drops in heavily trafficked places like sidewalks because they do have enough bacteria to make people sick. 3.Basically Professor Dawson concludes that regardless of contact time and surface of the floor the food should be tossed out. Professor Johnson believes otherwise where food could still be eaten if it had dropped in places that are known to be hygienic but are to be tossed when dropped in places with heavy traffic. Critical Thinking Challenge : I out of personal opinions and personal experiences would side with Professor Johnson . I honestly don't think out of the 13 years i've been alive and occasionally eating food that had dropped on the ground have i ever gotten sick. I also find his recommendations relatable because food dropped in heavily trafficked areas is unlikely to be picked up but if it is it has the potential to make you sick. Despite the fact that Professor Dawson's conclusion was less opinionated and more to the point i'd have to side with Professor Johnson because of my personal experiences.

    1. 4 hours ; 47 rounds 2. they had tried to pick from the latest edition of the Merriam-Websters dictionary. 3. rescheduling in Dekalb was because the judges were tired. The Jackson County competition was rescheduled because they had run out of words for the competitors to spell and the judges were exhausted. Critical Thinking : I think because they are exceeding expectations there should be exceptions for them. The National Spelling Bee should be eager and happy to have such students like these ones who are willing to battle to the best of their abilities and the fact that they were able to run out of words to spell is astounding. I think they should all be given the opportunity to compete because they all are very smart kids and opportunities like those are very rare.

    1. the author believes that the list of endangered animals is growing because humans are increasingly invading and polluting spaces that were once teeming with wildlife. 2.Black-faced Spoonbill. Korean stumpy bullhead. Eastern Golden frog. freshwater tortoise. fox, lynx and musk deer. 3. the center that is scheduled for completion in 2016, will be as sustainable as possible. The architects will also ensure that it receives as much natural lightning and ventilation as possible to reduce the impact even further. Critical Thinking: Endemic means that it's common to be found in the area. So of course Korea would attempt to focus on saving animals in their own country. So that would be a top priority for this project. I think that it would be hard to have randomly selected animals from around the world because Korea may not be able to provide them with their needs such as the right temperature, the right environment, and just transferring animals would be a big hassle.

    1. Fear that they'll attract lions. 2. She had unfortunately witnessed the slaughtering of a mother elephant and the severe injuring of a baby elephant. 3.it's located where it is strategically. It lies adjacent meaning opposite sides from the forest where it is home to the most intact wild elephant population in Zambia as of right now. Critical Thinking: I think what the author is trying to say is that although her intentions are good if people keep doing what they do her goal probably won't be accomplished.

    1. they were on their regular dog walking route when john spotted a rusty can sticking out from the ground. 2. 8 in total ; worth about $10 million USD 3. perhaps because it had a mistake ; it didn't have the motto "in God we trust" and especially in coins mistakes make the value higher. Critical Thinking: maybe they're rare and because they haven't been evaluated thoroughly and maybe discoveries about them are yet to come. Perhaps more mistakes can be found therefore increasing the value of the coins even more.
